York provincial silver tea spoon, 1829

£65.00

This York assayed old english pattern tea spoon was made by James Barber, George Cattle and William North. The spoon has been engraved "JAG"(?) on the finial.

The spoon carries the hallmarks for James, George & William, the lion rampant for sterling silver (rubbed), the George IV head duty mark, and the date letter "S" (1829).
There is no town assay mark, but this was not unusual for the York assay office who would only mark pieces "of importance" or "of significance".

The spoon is in very good condition. There is only normal age related surface scratching.

The spoon measures 13 cm (5.1") long, and weighs 11g.
All measurements are approximate.

Please see photos as these form an important part of the description.
